International Domain Names (IDN)

If you’re seriously considering developing a website in Japan and you’re trying to find a good domain name, but all the good .coms are gone, then consider translating your domain into Japanese and register that. IDNs are Idomain names written in foreign languages like Chinese and Japanese, and are sometimes called multilingual, multinational or international domains. Given the choice people would naturally prefer to type and communicate in their own language which they use for everything else. Now if you want to access Japanese and Asian markets you can do so in their own language with an IDN. Registration of an IDN is simple. IDN domain registrars such as Moniker provide quick and easy ways to get a kanji, hiragana or katakana domain name. Once you register it it works just like any other domain name! .com and .net both fully support all languages so you can register in any language. How it works When you order an IDN the characters like kanji are converted into punicode or unicode. so for example: www.??????.com is actually registered as xn--eckua7a1o072r1s6a.com in the domain registry. However, the user never knows about the punicode translation, so all they have to do is type in the original kanji or whatever word in their own language. You can still find great domain names available in Japanese. However most of the good one word names have already gone, but two or three words are still available!
